These D.C. Dog Parks are sure to keep tails wagging all day long

Living in a big city has a fair share of perks for humans--but for your canine companion, things can get a bit drab. However, a place like D.C. takes this into account and includes man’s best friend into the city’s design planning.

Fortunately, dogs in the country’s capital have tons of amazing parks to enjoy. Its collection of dog-friendly areas are the perfect place to bring your furry friend, where they can safely play, socialize, run around, and--simply put--be a dog! Make sure to check out these four popular dog parks specially designed for your pup.

S St at 17th St NW

Located near the famous Dupont Circle, S Street Dog Park is the perfect place to bring your pet. The park has an enclosed area where dogs can freely play off-leash, and the antimicrobial astroturf ground makes it a wonderful mess-free option.

The park is also full of water fountains to ensure pets stay healthy and hydrated, and during the summer months, the park brings in wading pools to keep the dogs cool. Benches are placed around the perimeter underneath the treeline, so owners can relax in the shade.

This is one of D.C.’s more popular dog parks, and the fabulous amenities leave no one questioning why.

2901 20th Street NE

The newly opened Langdon Dog Park has quickly become very popular with dog owners across D.C.. This fenced-in dog run was designed for dogs to play off leash, but the spacious park is organized in such a way that it won’t easily become overcrowded.

Owners appreciate the cleanliness and dog-friendly amenities, such as their abundance of fresh water fountains, trash cans, and bags. The park is separated by size, with areas designated for bigger dogs and smaller ones. At Langdon, the fun never ends.

1651 11th St NW

As one of the largest dog parks in D.C., local dogs rate the Shaw Dog Park five stars. The grounds are lined with gravel, making it another mess-free option, and the double-gated entrance keeps dogs safe and secure.

The play area is separated by dog size, and in the summertime, they even bring in tents to keep the little guys cool. Everything is wagging tails and outstretched tongues at Shaw Dog Park.

39th St NW and Newark St NW

The Newark Street Dog Park is a great place to bring your pets. The grounds include water fountains and water bowls that keep dogs hydrated, plenty of bags and garbage cans, and even a shaded area to keep dogs cool.

There are separate play areas for large dogs and small ones, so owners can always be sure that playtime is fun and safe. Benches are available so owners can sit back and watch their happy pup have the time of their life.
